AIMS OF THE MODULE
The module International Economics and Foreign Trade aims to:
- develop students’ competencies in the field of international economics, both in the macroeconomic domain and in the international business area
- rapidly integrate graduates into professions related to the international dimension of economic science, especially specific knowledge related to cooperation with foreign countries
- To empower students to make an intellectual contribution to the development of international economics and international business.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing this module, students will be able to:
- explain, analyse and apply the basic principles and postulates of international economics, both in theoretical analysis and in business practice
- analyse and develop relations in the field of international financial flows
- explain and apply the principles of international economic organizations
- analyse problems that foreign trade companies face in the implementation of foreign trade operations
- participate in evaluating, ranking and designing Serbia’s expected positions in the international market, recommending appropriate measures to improve it
- explain and predict all opportunities, instruments and forms of foreign trade financing, available in the international environment, and to bring them closer to the companies of their employment
- distinguish between many risks that participants in international business face, as well as anticipate them and outline ways to overcome them
- explain and analyse, both classical and modern, complex forms of foreign trade financing
- understand and analyse regional economic integration flows, with particular reference to the European single market
- explain and employ the principles and institutes of international business law
- master the foreign language skills in business use
- participate in evaluating, ranking and designing the expected positions of their company in the domestic and foreign markets
- analyse and explain measures that regulate foreign trade in their country and apply them in the business operations of the company of their employment
- Apply professional judgment in analysing problems faced by participants in foreign trade and anticipate opportunities for solving them
- demonstrate analytical skills and logical thinking when solving problems in the field of foreign business
- apply relevant criteria for assessing future developments on the world market and, accordingly, recommend mechanisms for improving Serbia’s position in international economic relations
- assess the risks faced by international finance entities and suggest strategies for cooperation with international financial institutions
- apply the acquired knowledge in the field of international payments and choose optimal solutions
- apply the acquired knowledge of the most important legal institutes relevant to the field of international business
- assess the effects of the international ratings of countries and institutions and, based on these assessments, look at the potential consequences for Serbia
- concisely and effectively evaluate the accomplished goals of the foreign trade company in which they are employed
- present instruments and forms of financing foreign trade companies
- constructively participate in the work of multifunctional teams of companies in which they are employed, in the process of defining and achieving the strategic and operational goals of the company.

All accepted students are enrolled in the first year, which is common, and in the second year of study the students select modules.
FUNDING AND COSTS
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics enrols 900 students in the Economics, Business Management and Statistics programme, of which 610 are state-financed students. Ranking for enrolment in the first year of study is done based on the achieved success from high school and the result at the entrance exam (ratio 40:60).
The tuition fees for citizens of the Republic of Serbia range from 92,022 RSD to 121,082 RSD, depending on the success of the study, i.e. the number of points earned in the entrance exam. Tuition fee for foreign citizens: 1,500 Euros in Serbian dinars equivalent to the middle exchange rate of the NBS on the day of payment.
