Graduate (Master) Studies

Since the academic year 2006/07, the Faculty has been organizing the new, Master Programmes in accordance with the hitherto reforms of its Undergraduate Studies. These programmes last one year and upon their completion students obtain 60 ECTS points (previous magisterium programmes lasted two years). After two cycles of the studies – Undergraduate and Graduate (Master), students gain 300 points, which is in conformity with the modern European practice.

Structure, Objectives and Aims of the Master Studies

The master studies at the Faculty of Economics provide 60 ECTS credits, after a student has acquired 240 ECTS credits at bachelor level. The study program subjects provide 42 ECTS credits, while the final master paper counts as 18 ECTS credits.

A course content is relevant to future careers. Our courses are designed to be very flexible. The program structure fully follows the contemporary trends in the teaching process, thus ensuring an appropriate degree of electiveness. At the same time, the methods used in the teaching process are modern (the inclusion of students, encouragement of critical thinking, solving concrete problem – case study method and the like) and ensure the acquisition of appropriate competencies and academic skills  in accordance with the study program and module.

The master studies at the Faculty of Economics represent the second-degree education of academic masters in economics and masters in management for the specific fields. Students acquire general and course-specific knowledge, as well as necessary academic skills (analytical, numeracy, information and communication). Masters acquire appropriate competencies and qualifications for performing complex jobs at different levels of decision making in firms, banks, government, central bank and the like. At the same time, masters provide knowledge needed for further education at the doctoral level.

The basic aim of all master programs is to educate appropriate professionals in a specified field at the master level, thus being qualified for complex and managerial jobs in the economy, as well as for inclusion in scientific research. We aim for postgraduates with an understading and ability to apply knowledge, therefore, our courses are «applied» with a strong vocational emphasis. The program enables the acquisition of knowledge and mastery of skills required for the performance of very complex managerial and analytical jobs in different fields.
