Economic Annals Ethics Statement

Economic Annals adheres to the international ethical guidelines for academic journal publication set out by COPE.

Editors

Members of the Editorial Team (Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors) must hold no conflict of interest with regard to the articles they consider for publication. If an Editor feels that there is likely to be a perception of a conflict of interest in relation to their handling of a submission, the selection of reviewers and all decisions on the article shall be made by another member of the Editorial Team. Editors have a responsibility to protect the anonymity of reviewers and/or authors as per the highest academic standards.

Editors shall evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content free from any racial, gender, sexual, religious, ethnic, or political bias. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Authors

Authors are exclusively responsible for the contents of their submissions, the validity of the scientific results and must make sure that they have permission from all involved parties to make the data public. It is the responsibility of each author to ensure that articles submitted to Economic Annals are written with ethical standards in mind and that they do not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism or article recycling. Authors affirm that the article contains no unfounded or unlawful statements and does not violate the rights of others.

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate with the Editorial Team to correct or retract the article. Economic Annals will consider retractions in line with COPE’s Retraction Guidelines. Retractions are usually reserved for articles that are so seriously flawed that their findings or conclusions should not be relied upon, or that contain substantial plagiarism or report unethical research (for further details see the journal’s Policy).

Authors’ affiliations should represent the institution with which each author is currently affiliated. Knowingly providing false or fraudulent affiliation information is a form of misconduct and may lead to article retraction.

All authors listed on submitted papers must have contributed substantially to the authorship of the article, and the corresponding author must warrant that no authors who would reasonably be considered an author have been excluded. In the event of a dispute or change request, the journal will be guided by the relevant COPE flowchart in deciding on appropriate action(s).

Reviewers

Reviewers must not have conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the funding sources for the research. If such conflicts exist, the reviewers must report them to the Editor without delay.

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the Editor without delay.

Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
