Launch ceremony of the international master’s program
The University of Belgrade – Faculty of Economics and Business and the Freie Universität Berlin have signed a cooperation agreement on the implementation of the master’s program “Master in Applied Economics”, which provides students with two degrees. The arrangement states that both Belgrade and German students can complete the first year of their master’s studies in Belgrade, which entitles them to a degree from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Belgrade (out of 60 ECTS), and the second year in Berlin, which entitles them to a degree from the Freie Universität Berlin ( of 120 ECTS).
It is a modern study program, defined according to the reputation of master’s studies in applied economics at the world’s best universities, which prepares students to perform complex and demanding jobs in the field of economic analysis, with the use of modern quantitative techniques and tools. At the same time, this is one of the first programs of such strong cooperation between Serbian and German higher education institutions, with which these two faculties want to contribute to the further development of economic and political cooperation between the two countries. Graduates from this master’s program will have the opportunity to develop their careers in German and Serbian government bodies, international institutions, banks and other financial institutions, as well as consulting companies, and to continue their education at PhD studies in the country or abroad. The first generation of students will be enrolled in the academic year 2024/25.
The agreement signed between these two higher education institutions was made official at an event on October 20, 2023 at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Belgrade, in the presence of the management of the Faculty of Economics and Business and representatives of the Free University in Berlin, the Rector of the University of Belgrade, representatives of the Serbian Minitry of education and the Ministry of science, technological development and innovation, the German Embassy in Belgrade, the delegation of the European Union, the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, large German companies operating in Serbia, as well as teachers, associates and students of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Belgrade.
